Candle Conversion

I got this candle for my birthday this past November right before Christmas. It smelled wonderful and lasted all through Christmas and most of January. We burned it all the time. But the candle had melted all into the potpourri and had become quite a mess.

I love the canister and decided to empty out the melted candle-potpourri concoction (that took several minutes and a butter knife). Then I went to work on making a new candle using the following:

I stuck the Yankee jar candle into the canister and started filling up the canister with the river rocks:

I just filled it until just the rim of the Yankee jar candle was visible. And now I have a nice new candle!

You can't tell in the picture, but when the candle is lit there's a nice soft glow through all of the rocks.

The Breakdown:
Canister: Leftover from a gift

River Rocks: From Pottery Barn Outlet, $7.99 for the bag

Yankee Jar Candle: A Christmas gift

I'm thinking I should start to save the jars and glass containers that my candles come in and remove the labels to use them in various ways once the candles are all burnt out. Any ideas to share?

What a great idea to reuse the jar! And I love those little river stones, I have some candles nested in them, too :)

Thanks for stopping by! That really is a cute canister! I love your burlap wreath in a previous post, and your desk is just gorgeous! I wouldn't paint it, but maybe give just that wall in the room a different color if you are looking for a change.

I love it! Saving the jars from candles is a great idea! I have 3 that I use in my bathroom, they're little short sorta square ones? I use them to hold: cotton balls, q-tips, and those little dental floss/tooth pick things. That way if I have a guest that may need something like that, they don't feel like they need to ask me, or go rummaging through my cabinets to find what they need!

Thanks for your kind words. This river rock thing is a great idea. I have some, too, and I think I am going to try this with some of the Christmas candles that are looking a bit tired.
